My Check Engine Light is on and rec'd a P0401 OBDII code..

Is cleaning my EGR valve and intake manifold the best first step to take to clear the code?

I have a mechanic that works out of his garage, do you think he could fix it?

If not, what can I expect to pay the dealership/local repair shop for this cleaning?

Thank you

yes you could just clean or even replace the egr valve ? to clear the code your mechanic would need a code reader ? if you clean the EGR valve and clear the fault codes test drive the vehicle and the codes don't re-occur then jobs done, if they do re-occur you will have to replace valve, clear codes and test drive again
