My car Rpm's always stay in the 1 to 2 RPMs range. If I press on the gas pedal the car moves, but dosent pick up speed as much. If I floor it, the RPMS would go to or even past 3 but the car would still take time to even go fast

Hi,

Any time I hear of a power loss, I question if the catalytic converter is plugged or partially plugged. Have you ever heard any rattling sounds from under the vehicle? Are there any odd odors or smoke from the exhaust? Also, is the check engine light staying on when the engine is running?

Take a look through this link and let me know if it seems to mirror what you are experiencing:

Let me know.

I do hear a rattling sound whenever I accelerate, I usually hear it when I’m on a narrow street passing by cars. I recently just bought spark plugs and a fuel filter just to change them cause I haven’t changed them since I bought the car a few months back.

Hi,

It could be something as simple as a heat shield, but on the other hand, it could be the internal portion of a catalytic converter that can restrict airflow.

Do me a favor. Take a rubber mallet and tap on the exhaust to see if you can recreate the noise you hear. If you can, have a helper narrow down where it is coming from.

Let me know.
