The rear brake started to grind can you help us?

Tonight my husband was driving to work. As he was driving down the highway he had his cruise control on. All of a sudden the cruise control shut off and the traction light began blinking. He shrugged it off and turned the cruise back on. Drove for about five minutes and the rear brake started to grind can you help us a do a brake job please?
