Wiper motor replacement

Hello,

Here are the instruction in the diagrams below to show you how to replace the wiper motor. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

2000 Chrysler Town and Country

I just replace the windshield wiper motor in my van and now the wipers are at rest in the up position. Based on other posts, it looks like I might need a different motor. Is this true, or is there another problem?

The motor determines where the wipers park. If they are doing what you described, that is where the problem lies.

I think my windshield wiper motor might be going out. Whenever I turn the wipers on they go up but get stuck going back down and i hear a loud whining noise. Not having any other issues with the vehicle besides this. Could it be the wiper motor?

Will they come back down on their own eventually, or not? Also, you mentioned that you hear the motor running, have you checked the linkage to the wipers?

FRONT WIPER/WASHER SWITCH NOTE: Wiper/washer switch is part of multifunction steering column switch. If wiper/washer switch fails, entire multifunction switch must be replaced. Disconnect wiper/washer switch connector. Using ohmmeter, test for continuity between switch terminals with switch position as indicated. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH CONTINUITY TEST table. See Fig. 2 . If continuity is not as specified, replace multifunction switch.

Very common problem is a defective body computer. Not sure why they had to computerize a wiper system, but it's one of the reasons people don't want to buy new cars. I've known a few people who just ran a wire from a toggle switch on the dash board to the wiper motor and forgot about the delay function. Cheap "fix" for an expensive, unreliable computer.
