Cars today are made better than ever before and most new cars today the body and the engine will easily last 20 years. BUT With all the electronics and extra power features and safety features(that are really expensive to fix) that auto manufactures Are adding on at warp speed, Will new cars today be to expensive to maintain after 15 or 20 years or over 150 0r 200,000 miles? Is the 15 or 20 plus year car a thing of the past? Does this mean that you'll have to buy a new or used car every 5 to 8 years just to keep repair cost down? Will all the electronics in these cars last 20 years? Thanks bill

It all depends on how many miles you drive each year how you maintain it etc.15-20 yrs is a long time to have a car. Something is going to break over the years the electronics is the weakest link I think especially navigation body control modules abs etc. But if a transmission fails that will really set you back.A/c can get expensive to maintain and repair over the years as well.
