Hiya,

the car was acting up before but I ignored it and apparently that problem grew bigger now. The engine sometimes for a while lost power and it was slowly accelerating while the car was smoking (and the car was even "shaking" when accelerating as if it wanted to stop) but it became good again after like ten minutes and than acting up again for another ten and so on. It started to become worse but before I could get it to the service it got even worse. Now it wont rev up above 2000 RPM, still "shaking", smoking (all these are constant) and I found out there is diesel in the engine oil. (The check engine light is on too. + The other day I had to stop and leave the car because the engine was too weak. I went back for it later and I could come home with it but since then it's been it's worse condition that I just described.) I've book it for a service but it's a week ahead and I thought it would be nice to know what to expect. The engine doesn't make any strange noises as far as I can tell.

Thanks,
Gabor

If you can find the cat coverter, With it cold tap on it with a hammer, not hard, If you hear a rattling or sounding like something is loose in it the the converter is restricting the exhaust. I found out in a firebird that did the same thing some years ago. If you use the car especially at night you will see the converter get red hot and glow. The diesel fuel in the oil? Years ago I heard that some people use it with the oil to clean the inside of the engine. Other than that have not heard of diesel fuel in the engine since the engine is gas and there is no use for diesel fuel in the car.

Should I worry that the engine might need to be replaced or can I be certain it's a smaller and fixable problem. (That's what I wanna know really :) )
Thanks,
Gabor

If it is the converter, after changing it there should take care of the problem, as long as that is the problem. With the check engine light is on there could be sensor that is bad. The oil light itself didn't go on and no knocking sounds so I think you should be all right.
