I pulled the batteries out and installed new ones. All electronics came back up but the clock and calendar. Now I cannot set them because the touchscreen does not light up for those settings. Does anyone know what the failure is?

Check the fuses. They often blow from the surges when the battery is reconnected. Disconnecting batteries today is never a good idea because there are so many things designed in to force you to go back to the dealer to have computers unlocked. You are very lucky you didn't do this on a GM or Volkswagen product.
