2008 Chevrolet Malibu Engine power reduced light on

Engine power reduced light just came on. Car slow to accelerate but will after a few seconds. Car located in Cole mountains. Brought used 2 years ago. Is this issue dangerous and how can I safely check the issue myself?

See if auto parts can scan for codes if not a pro will have to do it. Then get back with code.

No code yet. On star did a diagnostic and said Electol Fuel Control System.

If auto parts can't find a code h ave a pro do it the fuel control may be a module.

The system is going into fail safe mode because there is a problem with the "drive by wire" electronic throttle system. There will be specific code numbers stored that will help diagnose the issue.
