I just got the car 4 days prior to this but up until the belt broke it ran perfectly. So, the belt broke at a red light, and the car shuts off. Tow it to a nearby parking lot, put the new belt on and go to start the car, it will turn over but won't start. It's getting fuel but won't fire. I bought both camshaft position sensors and the crankshaft position sensor. Still does the same thing. Check all the wires to make sure nothing got broken when the belt broke. The battery did shut off twice. Charged it up once and swapped it with a different battery but put the ther back in. Please, any ideas as to what else I can try? It's throwing a few codes all to do with the crankshaft. I'd have to get home and look to give exact ones.

Car listed above is a 328i E90 (3 series).

Hi,

Question: Looking at the belt routing diagram, there is only one belt for everything. Is that correct? See pic 1

Next, you may be getting fuel to the fuel rail, but it may not be injected in or you may not have spark. So, if possible, let me know the exact codes you have so I can do some research.

Also, just for the heck of it, check to see if there is spark at the plugs.

Here is a link that explains how it's done:

Let me know.

Yes, you are correct. One belt. The codes are po314, 2a9a. And no spark at the plugs.

Hi,

The P0314 isn't listed for this year. So that has me a bit confused. The manufacturer code you provided indicates a low/no voltage to the VVT actuator sensor. See pic 1 below. Check that connection on the top of the valve cover for damage. Also, follow that wire to see if the belt may have damaged it.

Let me know what you find.

Joe
