My problem might be the transmission but I'm not positive, every time I step on the accelerator it takes forever to get up to speed, the RPMS go up but the speed doesn't really, the first second in first is ok but after that I feel a slight drag and a great loss of torque and power, it gradually gets up to speed but it takes awhile, it also stalled on me twice the rums were to low, Its an automatic GTI. At first I thought one of my duel inter cooler hoses came off but there on there snug.I would appreciate any help anyone can offer thank you.

If the RPM's are going up but the car doesn't accelerate, it sounds like the transmission is slipping. Is the trans fluid clean and full? Have any warning light come on?

I haven't checked my transmission fluid, would that cause the issue.A friend of mine also said it could be the torque converter or flapper valve. What would you recommend first?

First, check to make sure the fluid is clean and full. Also, let me know if this happened all at once or has it gotten worse over time.

All at once, I noticed it right away. I had just gotten it APR stage 1 chipped and it was fine for a few days then all of a sudden it noticed it took forever to get up to speed especially from a stopping point

Start with the fluid. Let me know what you find. It should be a pinkish red color. Make sure it is full too.

I believe there is a fill hole on the side of the transmission. You just need to remove the bolt to check the fluid.

If the battery is weak, it could cause problems.

I have to be honest. A weak battery that isn't producing the voltage that the vehicle needs can cause a lot of different problems.

By the way, about a month ago, I got a promo code off a google search for Advanced Auto (don't know if one is near you). It saved me 40.00 on a battery. If you can, check it out.

The DSG is a standard transmission gearbox that uses solenoids to shift gears. There is no torque converter. There is a set of wet clutches that transmit the power. There is no fluid kevel plug. Level is checked at the drain plug. Fluid is a tan / gold color.

The new versions use dual clutches (dry).

Just some fyi.

Ok I changed my battery and everything was just fine, I babied it a lot, and until just a few hours ago the problem started again, no lagging really in first, but there is a little more jerking now. And the rpm is going up while speed is still going low?
