crankshaft timing mark?

there are two things on the crank sprocket theres a grove about a half inch long...And a nother like mark going straight up about a 8th an inch long which one of those marks is the correct timming mark

Can you upload a picture for me to see? If not, do this. remove the #1 spark plug and determine when that piston is at top dead center (TDC). When it is, the mark you will want to use will be pointing at TDC on the crank.

Incorrect answer. TDC does not align the crank sprocket timing mark with arrow on the oil pump. Alignment actually occurs at 60 degrees ATDC.
