Initially, I was receiving a code P2176. I replaced the throttle body, cleared the code and the Check Engine Light remained off for about 3 weeks and then reappeared. Again with the P2176. I suspected a possible bad part and replaced it again. Again the Check Engine Light stayed off for 3 to 4 weeks. However, during that 3 to 4 weeks, a Engine Power Reduced warning came up with a code 2544. The first 3 times the EPR warning came on, I turned the engine off momentarily and on re-start the engined performed normally. I cleared the Check Engine Light last week, and it stayed off for 3 days. Today, the Check Engine Light will not stay off when cleared and I cannot remove the EPR warning and the power is very reduced. If I try to drive it has very little power and shifts between gears abruptly.

Do I need to replace the ECM? Or the TCM? Or what are your thoughts.

Thanks, Bill

I am assuming the code 2176 is gone. The 2544 code deals with a tcm which has to be tested with a pro style scanner to make sure it is bad and would have to be replaced by a pro anyhow due to programming it to your vehicle. But all the codes have to cleared prior to testing to see if in fact there really is a 2544 code and any others that may cause that one to go on. That is why you have reduced power and trans shifting funny. Because of this code the engine may be running in retarded timing causing the low power.
