I have always been a fan of now the defunked saturn. I bought a saturn l series in 1995. Lasted over 8 years. I am now looking at a 2006 ion 2. With very low mlieage. My question is: after reading all the about the recalls and people getting killed in gm products is the ion still a reliable vehicle? Thank you so much

There fixing that problem with key turning off its from too many keys on the ring the keys swinging can turn the ignition switch off.I like the ion my niece bought the first year a 2003 brand new it was her first car. She gave it to my sister and now she is driving it.I have worked on them for years iam a factory trained saturn ion tech.I like them every car has its short coming I have always been fond of the S models. Thats what I started out fixing when I started with saturn in 1993. How many miles on the car your looking at?

The car has roughly 40000 miles on it. But I am reading all these horror stories on the ion from consumer reports, and "car complaints. Com" says stay away from these cars like the plague. That is why I am very hesitant in purchasing one of these vehicles. But I am so drawn to this particular model.
