Sometimes it will shift hard when I slow down

I have a 2006 Saturn ion 2.4 and what happens is when driving on the interstate sometimes it will shift hard when I slow down off interstate it acts like its going to stall out, all gears then start to shift really hard, I turn the car off for a hour or so everything is back to normal.

Hi,

The hard shift is usually the result of a line pressure issue. By chance, has the transmission been serviced recently? Have you checked the fluid level and condition of the fluid?

I ask about the service because it could be a partially plugged transmission filter causing issues. If you haven't, start by checking the fluid. Here is a link you may find helpful:
