Check engine light on after fueling up two days ago, the truck drives the same, I'm a car chick but this is my first SUV so I'm not schooled as much on these trucks. Had oil and trams checked, just had service done back in November and it was given the all clear on inspection. What could this be? I don't notice anything different driving either. No sounds or smells. I don't want to take it in and pay the computer fee if it's nothing.

You'll have to scan for codes autoparts do for free. The gas cap has to clicked 3 times after a fill of gas. Or will set a code but it could be something else.

I always have it click at least 3 times. Do you think the cold weather might have something to do with it?

AS Hmac300 SAID, YOU NEED TO HAVE THE A CODE SCAN DONE. MANY AUTO PARTS STORES WILL DO IT FOR FREE!

RETURN HERE WITH THE EXACT CODE #s (YOU MAY HAVE MORE THAN ONE). EXAMPLE OF A CODE: "P0302"--- SOME PEOPLE SORTA INTERPRET CODES DIFFERENTLY. THAT'S WHY YOU NEED TO WRITE DOWN THE #s AND POST 'EM FOR Hmac300

I FEEL SURE THE "GAS CAP INFO" WAS IN REGARDS TO YOUR SUGGESTION TO WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED

. AND YES, YOU COULD HAVE A DEFECTIVE CAP

. BUT.

. FIND OUT THE CODES AND GET THEM INTERPRETED BEFORE YOU START SLINGING MONEY OUT FOR POSSIBLE UNNECESSARY PARTS!

THIS STILL COULD BE A SIMPLE AND EZ FIX!

LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR NEXT CONVERSATION WITH Hmac300

I went to check out the cap, I took it off and recapped it making sure the clicks were done, started the car and the light was still on. I have a friend that can check the codes I really hope it's nothing major, maybe the spark plugs need replacement. I bought the car used but it's really in great condition, just basic maintenance, and I wanted to change them in the summer and was told to hold off until the engine light went on. So I'm
Banking on this as a possible issue. Cheap to fix.
Thank you for all your help and I'll keep you posted when I get it done.

The only way the light will go out is with a scanner not disconnecting battery etc. If it's evap code then turnit off and see if it will go on again if it is then thereis evap problem which is same for gas cap.
