I bought a new ac compressor for my 2006 Chevy SSR. I had recovered the refrigerant pulled the old compressor put the new one in and filled the system with 50 pounds of nitrogen. It held for 30 minutes and did not move. So I pulled a 1 hour vacuum on the system it has held so I am ready to fill it with 134a. Now I am debating weather to fill it up while the compressor is in a vacuum. I know before I start the truck I have to charge some refrigerant in. Do I fill the system while it is in a vacuum and do I charge it in as a liquid before I start the truck. I like filling it as a gas I don't trust filling it as a liquid but this is where I am at now. Thanks.

Well that won't hurt a thing doing that. But if you replaced compressor you should have replaced the orfice and screen, receiver drier, and made sure all the crap is out of the condenser otherwise it will clog on you.

Yeah I did I replaced the accumulator the filter drier and I flushed the system with what they sell at autozone. I bought everything I needed and made sure while I was at autozone that I had everything. I also checked with the salesmen to make sure I had everything. Thanks for all the help. Is it ok to charge the system as a liquid before I start it. Thanks for all the help I appreciate it.

It's ok to dump it in as aliquid until the vacuum is gone that you pulled the system with. After that gas only and only on the low side. Never charge or have the high side open. High side gauge is used for pressure readings only.
