I recently purchased a 2006 325xi sedan, and have noticed a subtle "noise" when going over bumps at lower speeds. It would best be described as a clunking I guess. The car still seems to hand fine and rides smooth. Do these cars tend to make any noise going over bumps? Is this something I should check out? If it is something that sounds like it needs to be looked at...what could it be?

Chances are it is a bushing. Have the front end checked. IT could even be a ball joint. It isn't common for them to make a noise like you mentioned.

I agree with my associate, the noise may be something that if dealt with in a proactive manner, could be taken care of before it becomes a real problem. Have it inspected for lower control arm bracket wear. Realoem.com has a great exploded view of the possible culprit, the part number is 31120410791 cut and paste the part number and you can see it for yourself. Hope this is helpful, if there is anything else, please let us know.
