How far do you have to drive this car to reset the monitors after being reset after doing a repair

I replaced the #5 coil and reset the light and they when I went to get the emission sticker it failed the man said I would have to drive it maybe 30 miles, I have driven the car 150 miles and still not been reset

Its not how far, the cycle is a very specific way of driving a car under certain conditions to run the monitors. Everyday driving may never run a monitor depending on your driving habits. Thats why shops charge for this service to get the monitors to run.
