Have you checked the coolant level?
Has it been overheated recently?

It hasent overheated yet, the coolant level is on the bottom mark, I don't know where it was before as I have only just had the car, and it was bought as seen.

The smoke sounds like coolant being burned which would likely be due to a blown head gasket, probably from a previous overheating.
