engine cant stay on

hi i have a 98 540i bmw that i bought about 200 miles away from home ran great all the way home and the next day had a problem staying on, i reset the battery and the check engine light went off but it still died then i cranked it a few more times and now. I have replaced the alternator stater and battery and my car still won't start

Is it cranking over and will not start or just won't do anything when key is turn to cranking position??

It is not cranking over but when you turn key to the crank position the lights windows and radio and locks work it just makes a clicking noise and then does nothing so after replacing alternator and battery we thought it was stater but that didn't help either hope this clarifies it better for you

That means you have a wiring issue in the circuit. It could be a poor connection, burnt fuse/fusible link, bad ignition or neutral switch. Start out removing all the cable connections and wire brush them.

None of the wires are conroated so do I still need to clean them?

You don't know that. Yes you do need to clean them to eliminate them.
