DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AND SUDDENLY CHECK ENGINE ...

Driving on interstate and suddenly check engine light comes on and car loses power. Won't start back up and the brake pedal is stiff. Engine spins over but won't start. Any help would be appreciated.

Being that the car shut off would that bend the valves if the belt popped?

Once the engine shut off there is no more engine vacuum so yes.
