I have the car listed above with a little under 68,000 miles on it. Check engine light came on when starting the car. Drive the two minutes down the road and parked. I came back to check it an hour later and there was a puddle of water underneath. Just used a code reader and it’s reading the following numbers: P0344 and P0016. It does idle at a low RMPs of 600.

Hi,

Both of the codes are related to the camshaft position sensor. That shouldn't have caused any type of leak.

Was it water under the vehicle? Approximately where was the water located? Was it water, coolant, oil, or something different you were able to identify?

The codes, as mentioned, are related to the cam position sensor. There is an alignment issue between it and the crankshaft position sensor. This can be caused by different things and requires following diagnostics to see where the issue is coming from.

I attached the diagnostics below. Take a look through them and let me know if you are comfortable performing them.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Hey Joe!

The water was leaking from the front passenger side and was clear, had low viscosity and no scent. I believe it is from a recent rainwater collection that I have been seeing, possibly from a clog in a line.
I do feel comfortable performing the task represented in the diagnostics below. I purchased a new crankshaft position sensor today and attempted to replace it, but I did not have the correct ratchet to remove all four bolts. They really made it difficult to get to this model! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Christine, I wish you could see my arm. I had to replace a valve cover gasket on a Dodge 3.6L and basically never saw anything I was working on. Squeezing my hands and arms into a 3" clearance was frustrating. I look like I cut myself. LOL It was all behind the engine and under the cowl. Ugh! I have no idea why they do these things. I just explained to another person that to replace the mode door for airflow direction (HVAC), the steering column needed to be removed. Ugh! LOL

As far as your vehicle, if you disconnect the power brake booster hose and disconnect the wiring on the rear of the engine, it makes it a little easier.

I attached the directions below from the manual. Take a look through them and hopefully, something will help.

Let me know if you need anything or have other questions.

Take care,

joe
