My first thought and suggestion would be to have the timing checked, to verify that it has not jumped a tooth.I would suggest that you do not drive it until you have the timing checked. Is the check engine light on? If so do you have a way to read the codes and post them here for us?

Well the catalytic converter could be the whole problem or it could be the result of the original issue.I would have it diagnosed by a shop. There is to much going on there to diag over the web.
