P0446 error code. Purge solenoid or vent canister?

I have a 2005 Chevy 2500hd 6.0 vortec. My check engine light came on and it showed a p0446 error code. I've looked up the cause and replacement of the part but I'm getting confused with the purge solenoid and the evap vent canister. They say its located at the rear of the fuel tank but that part is the evap canister. Any ideas?

First of all, a code number never identifies a bad part.

You need a scan tool, smoke machine and voltmeter to determine the failure.

The purge soleoid is in the front of the truck and the vent solenoid is in the rear of the truck by the tank. They need to be manipulated by the pcm to confirm controls and see if they leak with the smoke machine.

Evap codes are tough to diag and expensive when you guess and most times the guess is wrong.
