Is £1600 for VW Golf 1.9 TDI Engine replacement cost (inc Labour) expensive?

I'm being charged £1600 for an engine replacement on 2004 VW Golf 1.9 TDI. Is this an acceptable price? The bottom pistons are worn and also the top pistons. So they are looking to replace the engine. This is after I had the Camsheft replaced and new turbo fitted.

It is a bit hard to do price comparisons with a different currency, so with that in mind, I would get at least 2 or 3 quotes on this work and compare them, your 1600 Pounds is just on
AU $2500.00 if this is a fully reco engine including an overhauled injection pump that's no to bad at all. If they are using your existing pump, ensure that the warranty will be valid, here if you do not over haul the pump and injectors there is no warranty on the core engine.
