2004 Opel Zafira wont reverse

So yesterday car was making a grindind noise at the back but driving fine. The grinding came when foot was put on brake and felt like there was something rubbing on the back. Then this morning the car wont reverse only drive forward. It feels like back wheels are locked when I try to reverse. Please help!

When you try to reverse, is there a load on the engine that would indicate there is something holding the vehicle from moving, or does the engine just rev like it is in neutral?

Hi yea it feels like the car is being stopped from moving but not from the engine, it feels like the brakes in the back of the car or the wheels on the back are locked. So although the car let me go into reverse gear when I put foot to pedal the back wheels dont move

You need to remove the rear tires and check to see if something has broken with the brakes or parking brake. Safely lift the vehicle and see if you can spin the rear wheels backwards and forward.

Hi no the back wheels wont spin, now the car wont drive forward either. Looked at the discs, cables etc when wheel was off and nothing looks broken or snapped

Something has come apart and is locking the wheels from turning. Do you have rear disc brakes? If so, have you checked the parking brake assembly in the rear of the rotor?
