What should I do?

We just got the car back from the shop, and every time we start it, the rpm goes up to about 1k before I hear a click, then the rpm goes back down, repeats to 1, 5k, 2k, then the rpm AND the temp gauge quit working, and it stops "resetting" after about 5 times of this happening. I was told the timing belt is out, but not by a certified mechanic. The car drives in every gear, accelerates normally, but untill I get to a certain rpm, (not sure cause its not working) it stops going untill I pull off the gass, or change gears.

If you never replaced the timing belt, it is due. However, it would not cause your tach and temp gauge to stop working. If these problems did not exist before work was done, I would recommend that you take the vehicle back and tell them. They should check their work and hopefully repair the problem.

Thank you. It is a new timing belt,
what would cause the computer to keep resetting? Ive heard talk about a wiring harness? But that doesnt seem to make any sense to me.

IT sounds like a loose connection.
