I have a 2004 Ford Taurus. This morning, it started fine, but did not move when put in gear. It's not making any noises and no lights are blinking. I heard it is the transmission, but did not have time to check the transmission fluid. Is it definitely a transmission problem? I can't afford a new transmission...

If engine runs without any transfer of power, it would most likely to be the transmission. Checking the fluids would be the first thing to do.

If there are any leakages due to impact damages, the fuids could have drained off resulting in no shift when transmission is engaged.

I have never been in any accidents, therefore no impact damages. Will the car completely not move if it just needs transmission fluid, or is that a serious transmission problem?

Speculating is not going to get you anywhere. You need some basic checkes to understand what had gone wrong. It cuold be something simple or it might need a new transmission.
