2004 Cadillac SRX V8 AWD:SRX taken to dealer for coolant leak and "Check Engine" light. "Check Engine" problem was leak in vacuum hose. Radiator "repaired" by dealer. Two days later (300 miles), dealer repaired radiator fixed failed on the road. Local cadillac dealer replaced radiator and said two of four O2 sensors were "melted" by overheat, triggering "Check Engine" light again. Home dealer agreed to pay for radiator replacement but said O2 sensors were not related to overheat problem. How could "melted" O2 sensor lights not be related to engine overheat?

In my opinion, the engine should not have overheated enough to melt wiring/connectors. The system is going to show overheat at somewhere between 230 and 250F. Were the two the post cat sensors, or the pre-cat sensors. The post cat sensors run real close to the exhaust, and that would be more likely to cause melting. The pre-cat sensor connectors I believe are on brackets at the rear of the cylinder heads. One would think if the engine overheat caused melting, why did it melt only the oxygen sensors? I would suggest that something was routed improperly, too close to exhaust, and that is what caused damage.
