I have 2003 GMC Sierra with 112000 miles, the truck doesn't want to crank on the first try, but fires right up on the second try. I saw another post from 2007 with the same issue and sure no answer.

Check for clean battery terminal ends first then check starter relay under hood for corrosion. If progs are corroded then use dielectric compound on them

Just to be clear, there is no problem with the starter motor. It cranks, but doesn't fire.

An additional note to add as I tinker, if I key it on and off a couple of times before hitting the starter it fires up.
