2003 Jeep Liberty Check Engine Light Blinks

I have a jeep 2003 Liberty and my check engine light is blinking. Along, with the blinking the car shakes when I am driving and when I stop at any lights or stop signs. I took it to a mechanic a couple weeks back and they told me to buy a new engine. Is it worth it? Should I just buy a new engine. And what is causing my check engine light to blink and my car to shake. I just don't want to buy a new engine without a explanation.

The blinking is telly you that you have a severe misfire for one reason or another. You first need to have the codes read and they should point you to the right cylinder and then you will have to determine the cause of the misfire.
