Hand Brake light

Hi , the car is standard, when I put the hand brake down, the light that indicates the hand brake stays on sometimes. Or sometimes it will come off but will come back on when driving. Is this because I am missing brake fuild?

The same light indicates low fluid when that feature is on the car, but if it's coming on when you work the hand brake lever, more than likely the cable is stretched allowing the lever to lift a little. The clue is the light will go off when you push the lever down.
