How do you separate the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle on a 2003 dodge ram 1500 4x4?

You need a ball joint remover to separate ball joints from the knuckle. You can loan it from places that rent out tools.

An unorthodox way is to use a bar and hammer to bang on the lower arm around the ball joint to loosen and remove.

The following link should be helpful.

I got it apart after using a pickle fork, an impact chisle, sledge hammer, etc and finally got it apart. The rust here in West Virginia is too much for me. I think I'll go back to New Mexico :)

Some ball joints are stubborn, especially when it had not been touched for extended periods and coupled with rust, it can be a real nuisance.

Glad to know you have fixd the problem.

Have a nice day.
