The steering wheel in my van just started moving freely up and down. It has a lever on the left side that is suppose to lock the wheel in place to the height adjustment. Locking mechanism isn't working. How can this be fixed and what would the cost be approximately?

Should be less than 3.0 hours of labor, so that cost is dependant on hourly labor rate of shop you go to.
Parts you won't know until it comes apart and see what needs replacement. That is unususal to fail so I would get a used parts from a salvage yard to repair it. Most shops have a salvage yard that they work with.
