Grinding/Whinning sound

My VW Polo 2002 has grinding sound when in neutral/static and become worst while driving. This sound does not goes away if I free the gear on speed. BUT, it goes away when I press the clutch either while driving or static. What is the possible cause of it? Clutch plate or gearbox overhaul? Thanks sir.

Sounds like release bearing to me-recommend replace the clutch assy-
