I have a 2002 subaru impreza 2.5 RS and it has a really rough idle, it makes kind of a ticking sound when i'm idling but only when its in drive (like if I'm at a stop light). I also have a clicking sound when I turn hard right, I've been told it's a CV joint but haven't had a mechanic look at it yet. Any suggestions on what either of these may be?

Do you have a check engine light and when was last tune-up?

Might want to start by cleaning the idle air control valve, check oil pressure with a mechanical gauge and inspect CV joints/boots-

Yes check engine light is on, but its a P0420 Catalytic Converter which I am getting fixed, no other codes have popped up, and I have a reader so I check the code(s) frequently.

It was taken into a dealer about two years ago for a tuneup, but haven't been anywhere since.
