When you start the car up cold can you hear the air pump turn for like 30 second's and turn off?If so then the air pump is working. The air pump's on those car's don't fail often.I would make sure the vacuum line's are attached and supply a good source of vacuum to the air injection vacuum solenoid. That is on top of you a/c compressor. Also on your a/c compressor is the valve that control's the air going into your exhaust from the air pump.I have seen those go bad rent a hand vacuum pump and pull a vacuum on that valve of 20 inch pound's of vacuum see if the valve hold's.Let me know what you found.
