2002 Saturn SC2 won't start, strange noise

2002 Saturn SC2 won't turn on. Makes a strange whirring noise even when key is not in ignition (sounds like CD is stuck, but can't get it to eject). When the key is in "run" position, noise stops but everything is dead. Noise also stops when I turn on lights (but lights don't come on).

Have you had the battery charged and tested?Also have you made sure the battery cable's are clean and tight?Also have you checked to make sure all the fuse's are good?

Thanks for the response. I looked at some of the fuses but they seemed fine. I got a jump the next morning and took the car to the shop. According to their machine, the (10-month old) battery needed to be replaced; in response to my question about the age of the battery they said it might have just been a "lemon." They ran a diagnostic of the circuits but didn't find any problems. So now I have a new battery and my fingers crossed that it was an anomaly. I'll be back in touch--with you and the shop--if it happens again!

Glad to hear you got started I have had new batteries I have put in only last like a month so it doesn't matter how new the battery is it can still fail.I hope you had the alternator tested and all that. Let me know if you have anymore issue's with it.
