what is the housing that is connected to the upper radiator hosing called. it is not the thermostat

Just to add to this one that is called the thermostat extension housing it just connects the upper radiator hose the thermostat housing.Let me know what your planning on changing because i have changed a lot of those thermostats and i know all the tricks and parts to need to make it a lot faster and easier.
