The Malfunction Indicator light came on and when driving a strange sound (like jerking) sometimes comes when I stepped on the gas pedal. Please advise what we can do, take it to the dealer or another mechanic shop?

You have a problem within the engine management system that caused the MIL to come On. Go to Autozone and have it scanned for free and then get back with the code/s if any present-start here
