2001 Volkswagen Golf Loss of power.

When driving on faster roads, my car will lose power, but keep going with VERY slow accelaration.
I pull over, turn it off then on again and it seems fine.
Only happens every now and then which is why I have not done anything about it upto now.

Your TDI is overboosting and the ECM then reduces the amount of fuel that
it injects to prevent the engine from overboosting further.

Once you cycle the ignition key, the process starts over. Normal power until
overboost is detected.
