Stuttering and sometimes feels like car is going to stall

2001 Volkswagen beatle stutters at idle and sometimes difficult to start. Happens intermittently seems to be worse with cold or wet weather. I have had the timing belt replaced a year and a half ago, the radiator flushed a year ago, a tune-up and a new battery two weeks ago and a new serpentine belt 3 months ago. There is a slight exhaust smell also. Any ideas?

I am having this very same problem with my 2000 Volkwagen Beetle, Manual transmission with 130000. Was just wondering if the original person that posted this issue has had any luck? Or any mechanical advice would be great! Thanks a bunch!

Probably a leaking vacumn hose which is drawing air in.
Check all hoses for cracks.
