Car has just had a tuneup, new valve and head gaskets timing belt water pump but one day later ran very rough, would not respond to accelerator horrible idle, wants to die. PUT IN A GAS CLEANER, AND ENGINE STARTED TO FIRE PROPERLY UNDER ACCELERATION BUT STILL VERY ROUGH idle. Two weeks later still will not idle properly. Mechanic toe out engine front again, timing is proper, now he is stumped, finds to vacuum leaks, suspects idler something, but very expensive. Your suggestion to try looking for vacuum leaks in the intake sounds good. Thank You. Hugh Hedges hughhedges@gmail. Com Why do you ask for gmail password, not interested in giving that to anyone. Happy to pay for guidance.

My mechanic who did all the previous work tells me it is smooth other than idle. I have not driven it since taking back to him a week ago. He has not touched it since. When I drove it to him it seemed to be clearing up on the gas additive, at least that was the only thing I did to it.

I think your general advice on question page made strong warning that engine damage could be done if driven. I was going to take it to Subaru after Thanksgiving but two hour drive. Yea or Nay on driving please.

Thank You.

Hugh
