If that's where the spring goes that's your coil spring. It would be worth replacing that.

Thank you for your help That does look like the coil that snapped and ripped the whole inside of my tire. Is this an expensive job to fix and is my car worth it being 10 yrs old. Bought it new Dec 2000. Cant really afford to start putting $ into it. Did last year.

If it's just the spring that's bad the spring should be under 100 and the labor is 1.1hrs time's shop labor rate 80-100 per hr. Plus you will have to have it Wheel Alignment after the spring is replaced. It's worth fixing you can't get another car for that. You only have a 115,000 mile's on that car if you changed the oil and transmission fluid like your supposse to then you have lot's of life left in that car.

I had it brought somewhere they said it was the the strut? Is a strut a coil? Anyway they said both should be replaced so other one doesn't do the same thing. When I got new sticker they told me ball bearings needed to be done next time on oil change that is what I thought fell out. Is 900.00 a lot for what they are fixing if so nothing I can do I need a car just would like to know, you have been so helpful thank you so much.

The spring goes on the strut the spring hold's up the weight of the car. The strut dampens the bounce of the spring and hold's the spring in place. So they want 900 to replace both front spring's and strut's with alignment?Does that include the bearing? Also are you talking about the front wheel bearing? If so is it making noise while you drive? Is he saying the strut came apart causing the spring to come out?

Hi no he just replaced springs and front end alignment a new tire total was 839.00, He said both springs had to be replaced or it would have been crooked and the other one might have gone soon. They didn't seem to think anything was wrong with wheel bearings that was my old mechanic that told me I needed to have them done when I got my sticker, hmmm. They seemed fair and told me it was worth getting fixed used car would go for 3500 like mine. You have been so helpful I am so grateful I found this site.

If you only had the two spring's done then the dealer price for both spring's is 169 plus tax dealer price may vary the labor is 2.1HRS labor time's shop labor rate 80-100 per hr?Plus maybe 100 for the alignment then whatever the tire cost.
