2001 Oldsmobile Alero grinding noise

I heard grinding noises coming from the water pump and I have replaced it twice now and about a week after each replacement the grinding noise returned. The first pump was a new after market and the second pump was a rebuilt OEM. Is there something else wrong or am I installing the pump incorrectly, (i.E. Incorrect orientation on the bolt pattern? I did notice an arrow marking on the edge of the pump which I installed on top.

Remove the serp belt, rotate all pulleys, they should spin freely, all except the crank! Pay particular attention to the air conditioner pulley, and did you replace the belt and tensioner?
