DTC 27 (P0705): PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH - OPEN

Circuit Description
Battery voltage is applied to the Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch (terminal No. 8) when the ignition is on. Battery voltage is applied to the PCM (terminal No. 101) when the gearshift lever is in the "P" position. The PCM judges that the gearshift lever is in the "P" position when the battery voltage is applied. Battery voltage is applied to the PCM terminal No. 108 (121, 102, 109, 122 or 110) when the gearshift lever is in the "R" position ("N", "D", "3", "2" or "L" position). The PCM judges that the gearshift lever is in the "R" position ("N", "D", "3", "2" or "L" position) when the battery voltage is applied.

Conditions For Setting DTC
If the PCM detects no PNP switch input signal from any gearshift lever position for a continuous period of thirty seconds, it is judged that there is an open circuit in the PNP switch and DTC 27 is set.

Trouble Shooting Hints
The most likely causes for this DTC to be set are:

†Faulty PNP switch.
†Faulty ignition switch.
†Damaged wire harness or connector.
†Faulty PCM.
