2001 Mitsubishi Galant. Power Door Lock does not work on drivers door. All other power locks work fine. I replaced latch and actuator unit and it still does not work wether i use the remote or the lock button on that door. I'm stumped. Any ideas?????

Before replacing stuff was wiring checked for power, ground switch operation and ETCAS

I replaced the latch/actuator because i assumed it would be the first one to go because of the most use. Anyway now that i know the actuator is good (perhaps the old one is also good), it's proably not getting power.

My question now is what is the ETCAS and what are you referring to when you say "ground switch operation" ???

I'm an old time backyard mechanic not a certified tech. so i need
more detailed information to proceed. What and where should i be looking and how do i test for it??? Thanks in advance.

Do you have a DVOM or test light? if so start by seeing if there is voltage at switch. What electrical knowledge do you have?

I do have a test light and a meter(DVOM?). I am getting power at the switch because when i press the lock/unlock button on the control panel inside the door, all doors lock/unlock except the drivers door. Same for when i use the remote. I have to lock the drivers door manually to fully set the alarm. What does that tell you?

I have limited electrical knowledge because i really get nothing from the schematics other than they tell me a bit about the parts of the circuit, fuse, relay, etc.

Docfixit, I assume you mean just the wires from the switch to the drivers door actuator as all the other door locks work with the same switch. I will take the panel off again and put a test light on them tommorrow. The problem seems to be someplace between the switch and the actuator.

A schematic of the power door lock system that i have shows a circle with a letter M inside it thats in the circuit that connects the two wires you mentioned, same for each door. I have no idea what that is if anything.

From switch wire goes to ETACS ECU see diagram then to actuator./ Check boot between door and body pull back see if wire is broken

Pardon my lack of knowledge, but again what does "from switch wire goes to ETACS ECU see diagram then to actuator" mean?? What is ETACS ECU and what diagram are you talking about??

From what you say i'm assuming that a wire goes from the switch back to the ECU (electronic control unit?), then back to the actuator. And this wire runs back and forth thru the boot between the door and body and may be broken? I'll check for a broken wire today.

I'm not sure how to check for a broken wire in the hinge boot other than to push the boot back but that only exposes very little wire. Instead i may unplug that boot wires where they connect under the dash, straighten the wires inside the door and pull them through to ckeck for a broken wire.

I don't see a "blue/red or blue/black wire on the lock switch.

I'm sure there's a simple answer to my problem, basically the drivers door actuator is not getting any power.

Today i went to the JY and got another door switch assembly, installed it and it didn't make any difference. All the locks worked except the drivers door. So now i know it's not the actuator or switch. Seems to me it has to be in the wiring, but theres so many wires i have no clue which ones to check and how to check them. That was my reason for my asking the question on this site.

I'm going to put everything back together and unless someone has the knowledge and comes up with a solution i guess i'll just have to live with it.
