wont start even if you hold gas pedal to floor? when wont start happens, pull 1 spark plug and see if it is wet. this will indicate if flooding is problem.

i had a ford tempo that was flooding and after replacing parts and no fix i ended up putting a push button momentary cut of switch to the fuel pump so i could get it started.

he tried to shut off the fuel pump so that it wouldn't get anymore gas, but still didn't do anything and we aren't sure where to start, bec. there are no lights on and he doesn't believe the fuel pump is bad

since they are not wet try pushing gas pedal. you may have a bad TPS (throttle position sensor). my van starts instantly if i push pedal slightly. but just cranks alot if i dont.

try adding gas under hood into intake and see if it fires up. this would mean you have a lack of fuel problem. put ear to trunk and listen for fuel pump running when you turn key to on. you may have a failing/weak pump. or a failing /bad relay that operates pump.
