Alternator extraction

2001 kia optima. Alternator. Have everything detached including mounting bolts but tha alternator will not fit through the space any way I try. Any suggestions?

You need to make sure you have the right alternator. Compare the new part number to the old. Sometimes part stores will give you the wrong part.

If this is not the case for you, then make sure the mating surfaces are clean and not bent. A dirty surface will prevent a proper fit.

There are 2 ways of getting the alternator out.

1. Removing the right axle shaft.

2. Removing :
a. Power steering line bracket.
B. Upper alternator bracket.
C. Steel fuel line from plastic holder.
D. Ground strap from intake.
E. Motor mount pin and lift up engine with floor jack to gain access.
