Hi if a car has abs then at start-up an indicator light would appear briefly on the dash to indicate the system is working otherwise the vehicle would not have abs brakes is this correct?

If you feel there is a problem, try scanning the computer to see if any ABS trouble codes show up. With this many miles, the bulb could even be burnt out.
